Designed as a private course by Roger Packard, RedTail Golf Club(formerly Lakewood) is built on more than 240 acres of rolling McHenry County countryside. Featuring bent grass greens, tees and fairways, the architect has incorporated 60 acres of marshy wetlands that preserve the natural setting. Relatively generous and well-sculpted fairways and greens disguise subtle nuances of slope and carry on this well-conditiioned layout, which includes a pair of island greens and one island tee. A fully stocked pro shop, driving range, and two putting clocks round out the facilities at Lakewood, a thoroughly scenic and enjoyable golf course.
